Photo of the Day........An Unexpected Christmas Tree Ornament

I hope all you Americans had a joyful peaceful Thanksgiving.  I spent much of my Thanksgiving evening trying to capture this Carolina Wren that somehow got into the house and penetrated into the deepest room within the house.   We had some bird netting to protect the garden from these little feathered friends so we cut some off and eventually captured him or her and let him go.  Cute little thing isn't he.

Bonus Photo of the Day........Merganser Landing

While walking over the Capilano River Suspension Bridge someone spotted some Eagles.  They were too far away to image with the lens I was using but we stood  on the bridge and watched Eagles fishing long the edge of the river and maybe one Osprey flying around with the Eagles.  I think it was an immature Eagle. Then three Mergansers flew down the the canyon and landed in the still water.

Photo of the Day........Beluga Whale

I know the real purpose for me to be here is jhh5 <--- babysitting, but I still hoped for some photo ops., or should I say photo oops.  So I shouldn't complain but I am going to anyway.  Shooting conditions have been crappy!  I was shooting yesterday in the rain forest in the mid day hours at ISO 1000 to hold f/8.0.  Previously I was trying to shoot on top of snow covered Grouse Mountain with snow falling and thick clouds.  Before that I was trying to shoot at the Vancouver Aquarium in rain and fog and really no sun.  I brought my tripod but when sneaking shots while chasing a grand kid a tripod is not an option.  In all it  was an awesome opportunity to stretch and learn.  What did I learn?  If anything I learned Beluga Whales are VERY VERY white.

Photo of the Day........Snowman

Well Izzy this is the biggest snowman Abby would build. She was more interested in building a snow wall with her friend Jason.   Snapshot was taken at the top of Grouse Mountain Vancouver BC Canada.

I have been using Picasa on this trip and the more I use it the less I like it.  Considering it's free it is still awesome.  I am a PS5 spoiled brat.

Photo of the Day...........Landing YVR

Since I am traveling with a notebook computer I am
experimenting with Picasa 3. So far I like it for it's
organizing skills and it seems good for quick adjustment.
But, I have no idea how this will post since I am using a link.
I took this photo from the back of an AA 757 landing at
Vanouver BC. looking northward up Howe Sound. Winter

Photo of the Day......................................Vancouver British Columbia

I took this photo from Spanish Shoals, but forgotten when I took it, and too lazy tonight to look it up.   Looking at this shot I was reminded of early color postcards and decided to give it that brushed water color look.

Why Vancouver because I am off for lovely Vancouver BC early tomorrow morning.  I hope for lots and lots of photos.  I am dreaming tidal pool shots and whatever I have time to stick my nose into.

Photo of the Day.........................Suddenly it looks like Fall

Last night, for the first time, It looked like Fall here.  The light was fall like for the first time.   The sky had that very "northern" look to it.  The trees created a reddish hue and with the crisp air the Fall Season seemed to have arrived.
I took a few snapshots with the D10.  Here is one fresh off the camera.  Untouched by human hands.

Photo of the Day........Scots Bay Nova Scotia Canada

I'm waiting for a client to make a decision on some aircraft sale photos.  I might have a few of those to share, but till then, I dug into the archives and pulled out some old digital camera shots of Nova Scotia along the Bay of Fundy taken with an Olympus C40Z 2-megapixal camera.  This shot was taken on January 3rd. 2005 at 3:20PM Atlantic Standard Time.  This photo was taken on the shore of Scots Bay looking southwest towards the setting sun outward to the opening of the Bay of Funday.  Approximate location is N45degs-40mins latitude by W65degs.-00mins, Longitude.

Below is a link to a travel log that explains the high tides of the Bay of Fundy.  They claim they are the highest tides in the world.

Photo of the Day........Primary Flight Instruments

I've been working on a paying job photographing an airplane.  I have one quick snap taken during the photo session to share.  Selling an airplane is never a happy decision for the seller.  This one is a bit sad for me too.  Not so much because I have flown it but because of the hours spent working on it.   Watching someone selling an airplane is like watching Travis shooting Ole Yeller.  Almost enough to make you cry.
