While taking a Christmas morning walk along Lake Springfield we came upon a busy flock of Ring Billed Gulls. This is our first time spotting Ring Bills on Lake Springfield. Someone had thrown them a slice of bread and the frenzy was on. What ISO?! Where do I focus?! How do I find composition and focus?! Oh damn just shoot! In hindsight I realize that there was not as much light as I thought. It was near midday but it was also just past Winter Solstice. I should have shot at at least 200 if not 320 to keep the shutter above 1/1000th at all times. Even big birds are quick and blur their wings at less than 1/1000th.
